Movie Reviews (not so new)

I was a hunting widow this weekend so Kylie and I had a good time by ourselves. We went to my cousin Melinda's baby shower on Saturday and rented a few movies to watch. The "S" household isn't into movies very much and we rarely watch them. I rented three and here are my reviews. Yup, they aren't exactly new releases.

Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events: I liked the artistic touches of this movie. Loved the costumes and the characters. I kept feeling like Count Olaf was like a itch that just wouldn't go away. Not much a fan of Jim Carrey (aside from his performance in Dumb & Dumber... love that movie). Overall still a little depressing and found myself hoping for a happier ending. But isn't that the point? I thought the graphic design of the closing credits were brilliant! I love finishing touches like that.

Pirates of the Carribean Dead Mans Chest: Johnny Depp and Orlando Blooom were looking as delicious as ever. I was sorely dissapointed though. I didn't like this movie NEAR as well as I did the first one. Maybe it's because I think there should be a little more damsel in distress? It didn't help that I get annoyed when movies are deliberately set up for another sequal.

Charlottes Web: Very cute and well done. I remember reading this book several times when I was young and it was always a favorite. This was probably my favorite movie out of the three.

So there you have it.

I'm a big fan of Dumb & Dumber also. Sometimes it's nice to watch a dumb movie you don't have to think much about. Did you know that part of it was filmed just a couple miles from your house? - Mike
