I'm happy to report that Kylie has made it three days without her binkie or her blankie. THREE DAYS PEOPLE!!!! And without much fuss about it either. She was down to mostly using it at naps/bedtime and I really worried about how it would leave for good. Frankly I anticipated having five days of being tortured by hearing her cry herself to sleep. So I'm SO GLAD things are going the way they have and we didn't have to do that.
Over the past week or two she's started wanting to sleep in the other room, where the bed is. This is going to be her room soon. A few nights ago she accidentally fell asleep without her blanket. The next day I found it and put in the cupboard and wanted to see if she'd remember to ask for it. She didn't. Then I noticed she hadn't taken the bink to bed with her either. When she wasn't watching I rounded up the last two binks in the house and stashed them somewhere she wouldn't stumble on them. So this is our third night of being binkie, blanket and crib free. Somehow I think the change of moving her into the other bed has helped things along. Really I would have been find having her keep the blankie around, but I'm beginning to see that I can't keep that around because it remind her of her binkie!
The biggest drawback really is she screams a lot more now. Mostly in the car when we are driving. Still trying to figure out how to deal with that since delayed consequences don't work with a two year old. Her screams are well.... ear piercing. I'm all ears on ideas.

special request
Hi friends...
Will you do me a favor? Go to this website HERE and vote for my friend Leslie and her husband Jeremy. She is a nominee of five couples for a photography package to update their adoption profile. There is a link at the very top left called "ak studio & design giveaway".
Thanks and peace out.

Fun trip to the... dentist!
On April 1st Kylie had her first dentist with Dr. Stevenson, a pediatric dentist. I've never been there before but I liked them so we'll probably use them again. They have awesome salt water fish tanks!
Kylie did great! The week previous we had been pumping her up with excitement about the visit and "played dentist" a few times so she'd get used to the idea of them poking around in her mouth. She did wonderful with the dental assistant who was cleaning her teeth and laid on the chair for her just as she should. We waited for a bit for the dentist to come and she got a bit antsy and was a little scared and clingy once the dentist was there. She wouldn't lay back down on the chair so we did the knee-to-knee thing and she sat on my lap with her head in the dentists lap so he could check her teeth.
Good news.
No cavities and her front teeth are pretty small which hopefully means that her adult teeth will be the same. He says she'll have problems with overcrowding if they are normal size. Gummy snacks and gummy vitamins are out (which is fine because I don't buy them... well I do buy the vitamins so we'll go to chewables once the bottle is gone) and only water in her sippy at night (been doing that for a few weeks). The bad news?
The binky has got to go.
She is down to only using it at night/ naps but still.

I am IN LOVE with the paintings from this website:
http://winborgdesign.blogspot.com/
And head over heels for the birdie and cherry blossoms print. I wish like anything some of those prints could go in our nursery and Kylie's room. Kylie hasn't been moved out of the nursery yet but I've been looking to re-decorate the spare room for her and find her a toddler bed. Unfortunately the prints are a little out of my price range.... okay so a lot! But I love the style of them. If anyone knows of an ets.y seller that sells paintings in the same style that are a bit more affordable let me know!
