Fun trip to the... dentist!
On April 1st Kylie had her first dentist with Dr. Stevenson, a pediatric dentist. I've never been there before but I liked them so we'll probably use them again. They have awesome salt water fish tanks!
Kylie did great! The week previous we had been pumping her up with excitement about the visit and "played dentist" a few times so she'd get used to the idea of them poking around in her mouth. She did wonderful with the dental assistant who was cleaning her teeth and laid on the chair for her just as she should. We waited for a bit for the dentist to come and she got a bit antsy and was a little scared and clingy once the dentist was there. She wouldn't lay back down on the chair so we did the knee-to-knee thing and she sat on my lap with her head in the dentists lap so he could check her teeth.
Good news.
No cavities and her front teeth are pretty small which hopefully means that her adult teeth will be the same. He says she'll have problems with overcrowding if they are normal size. Gummy snacks and gummy vitamins are out (which is fine because I don't buy them... well I do buy the vitamins so we'll go to chewables once the bottle is gone) and only water in her sippy at night (been doing that for a few weeks). The bad news?
The binky has got to go.
She is down to only using it at night/ naps but still.

I was so worried that dentist that we go to was going to say the same thing about the binky. Ours just asked if it made my life easier, and if so to keep using it. Not to worry until he started to get big teeth. I almost wish they told me no me no more binky. It sure would have been easier to blame it going away on the dentist....how do you break that habit? I sure don't know
We LOVE Dr. Stevenson!!! He's the best. The good news is that if she ever does have a cavity, it's TOTALLY different from when we were younger. Parker didn't even flinch when he had to get a cavity filled. Very kid friendly!
Easy binky fix to your problem. Just cut the top off and tell her its broken. She wont want to suck on it anymore if it is cut. You might have a couple hard days at first but she will get over it.
