I was unloading a small batch of clothes from my washing machine to the dryer when I found a DEAD.MOUSE. in the bottom of my machine. (insert dry heave) that had obviously drowned. I slammed the door shut and made Jared get it out when he got home. That was the most disgusting thing I've seen in the longest time. (insert another dry heave)
I consider myself a pretty tidy housekeeper so it just boggles my mind that another one has found its way into my house! BLEH! Obviously I had to re-wash everything with a boat load of bleach in it. My machine is only five years old so it's not like it could climb up through the inside. I only had a few odd items in there that I had gathered from around the house so I highly doubt I picked him along with the laundry (I shutter just thinking about that). I have no idea how it could have gotten in there.
Last spring we had a dish installed on top of the roof and when they ran some of the wires through the siding on the side of the house they left a hole that was just a bit larger than the cable line. It's next to the laundry room, so I have a hunch that I need to go caulk it up. We've lived here over five years and haven't had a single problem and then all of a sudden within the last year this is the second mouse that has made it's way in. Nasty.
And no he didn't look like this...

It must be a bad year for them, because I've already caught two this year and am working on a third, and I'm pretty tidy too. My mom has caught a couple too. I hope you get yours! I can't imagine pulling one out of the washing machine. Horrors.
EWWW! I can't imagine that! I never thought I was scared of them until we had one a few years ago in our old house. I screamed and cried. Yes, embarrassing, but the truth. Good luck with keeping them out!
oh that breaks my heart that he drowned... let the poor little guy rest in peace.
This is why we have a cat! Never had a problem with mice at all. However,, she does catch them in the field and then brings them to the door to eat, which fascinates the kids, (they stare and say ewww gross but keep looking anyway), but it totally grosses me out! Still it's outside not in my house.
I hear you. out in arkansas, we've had 2 so far. we live across from a field. yikes.
I actually thought about getting a cat...
I'm completely speechless...
UGH - creeeepy!!! I wouldn't be able to sleep at night for a while if that happened to me. Maybe you could borrow someone's cat over night. :)
What's new on the baby front? How many weeks, how're ya feeling, belly pic, ect!
At least he was clean when he died! After I read your post I thought something died in my laundry wall. It seriously smelled like something died. But then I found a nasty sippy cup of apple juice and "gag" that solved that problem. You probably would have lost your lunch over that smell:)
