Just this past week Kylie has learned to:
take off the child locks on the doors (aaaaaaaaaaah!)
can now climb out of the crib
and is no longer taking naps most days
Okay I don't want to sound like I'm complaining but I won't lie, the last few weeks have been a challenge for me. Kylie is very strong-willed, demanding at times, likes reactions out of people and likes to constantly be entertained by myself (for whatever reason toys just don't hold her attention for more than a day or two). So try stuffing all those traits into a little two year old body! It's just hard going to play group and I had to put her in time-out like FOUR+ times within an hour! She'll get really frustrated over something in meltdown mode and will start hitting herself and often this will progress into hitting others. Some days are better than others but by the end of the day on her bad days I'm just spent! In the past these things were always indicative of nap-time but over the past few weeks it's not uncommon for her to act this way right when she wakes up in the morning! Jared has had us both reading a bunch of the love and logic books. Isn't that awesome that Jared's the one that has been looking into those books? Love that! I think they are helping but we've still got a ways to go. I do think a lot of it revolves around the fact that she's two.
Kylie has started regularly sleeping in the other room and so on Wednesday I moved her clothes and some of her things out of the nursery and put them in what is going to be her new room. Next on the agenda I need to find a horizontal dresser and nightstand for that room. Re-paint the nursery (blue or beige?) and try to redecorate the rooms a little bit. But we are getting there. I have the cutest bedding for Kylie's room now, but still need to work on making Kipton a crib set, and finding a few things to tie the different color schemes into.
And Kipton?
He still isn't sleeping through the night but goodness he's been a great baby. I've decided the one word that describes him the best is calm. He's just calm. Doesn't get too excited over much, eats, sleeps and checks things out. He's one calm baby. Kylie absolutely adores him! She's always concerned about him, likes to mother him and will ask where he is if she can't find him. Jared even caught her sleep talking one night and she said his name. She says his name "picktin" so everything is picktin this, picktin that. Just today he made a peep in the other room and Kylie immediately yelled "Kipton crying!" and took off in a mad dash to get him. I think it's so sweet of her that she's always so concerned about him.
