Last week Abbie was able to come out to Utah to spend several days with us. It was so much fun! We were so excited to see her... it seems like forever since we last saw her. It's been almost a year since she was last out here and Kylie was just barely walking. Now she's running all over the place and saying all sorts of new words. She's grown up so much since then. We spent the first day just hanging out and catching up with each other. On Friday (Aug 19th) we went to Hogl.e Zoo. I haven't been up there since last year and it was a lot of fun. Kylie had a blast looking at all the animals. Among many others we got to see monkeys, gorillas, penguins, a tiger, elephants, lemurs and and energetic little tamarins. Kylie was pretty tired by the end, but had a great time. She especially liked the stone sculpture/water feature of the globe and spent probably a good half hour playing in the water. She enjoyed the train but wasn't a fan of the carousel. She clung to me the whole time, seemed to start enjoying it 2/3rds of the way into it and started whimpering again by the end.
On Saturday (Aug 22nd) it was Abbie's birthday and we took her to Sev.en Pea.ks. My sister Vaylene and BIL Jordan also came with us. Kylie was a trooper and played in the water all day. She went down some slides, played in the kiddie pool, and floated around the lazy river. I was glad she was having so much fun. She went all day without a nap and could hardly fall asleep that evening. Kylie loved being in the water with her dad. When he'd leave to go on a ride with Jordan she'd keep repeating "Daddy? Daddy? Daddy?" and would be practically jumping out of her skin when he'd return.
Abbie brought Kylie a new doll, a water baby and she's in love with it. It's one of her new favorites. She found one of her babies blankets in the drawer the other day and always wants me to wrap her baby in it for her.
We had such a good time and were sad to see her go back home. That last day she's here is always so hard for us... it's sad to say goodbye. It can be a super busy, crazy week but mostly because we are trying to jam a bunch of activities into several days. People always ask us how it is when she's out here and we truly, honestly love it and enjoy it. We are close in ways that most families can't understand and it's hard to explain. It's kind of like seeing a close friend, who you've been friends with for ages. But different still. When Kylie came to us it was a time in when we needed Abbie and Abbie needed us. We still keep in close contact but it's not as intense at it was during that first year. We've been kind of puttering on with our lives, and Abbie has been moving forward with hers. But it's been so great to reconnect and just spend some time together. We were so glad she was able to come out to see us.
No pics yet... I still haven't downloaded them from my camera.

Abbie enjoyed her visit just as much as you enjoyed having her there. It was SO good for her to spend time with all of you! The Sorensen's are her favorite people. Jared's family was so sweet and made her feel so welcome. And she loved getting to know Vaylene and Jordan better. Thank you so much for being the best friends to a birthmother that you could possibly be. I can't imagine adoption without you in it. You are absolutely perfect! We love you!!!
SO FUN! I think Abbie is an amazing girl. You all are so lucky to have each other in your lives. I am so happy that she had a chance to come out and spend some time with you all. We still need to get together. Our summer has been one of the craziest summer's ever! I would LOVE to plan something with you so we can get together and I can see your cute little Kylie.
