Sleep Peacefully Sweet Jocelyn

It's been an interesting week. I'm generally still feeling great but I've just been heartbroken for a friend of mine and her family.

I have a good friend in my ward who was excited and expecting a little girl after having three little boys. She was due within days of myself so it's been fun to compare our pregnancies and to know we'd have our little ones born most likely within a week of each other. I was excited for both of us, looking forward to milestones, their little quirks and I imagined us spending time together on Sundays in the church hallway calming our fussy little ones. Unlike her other pregnancies this baby was breech so she was scheduled to have a C-section early this week. This past Saturday I heard the bombshell that she had gone in to have the baby checked Friday night because she hadn't felt her move in awhile.

They weren't able to find a heartbeat.

She was born sleeping the next morning.

I'm just heartbroken for my friend and for what should have been. Knowing they were supposed to be born so close together in age makes it so hard. Babies just aren't supposed to die three days before they are supposed to be born. It does make me paranoid about all the "what if"s that can go wrong. I really do feel assurance that everything will be okay with the remainder of this pregnancy and our son, but why not the same for little Jocelyn? She was just as loved and anticipated as our little boy is.

I am so glad to know that families can be together forever.

That is sooo sad. Having been through a scary experience ourselves, I feel for that family, and am so grateful they caught our problems early enough to have everything be okay. All I can say about baby Jocelyn is that she just needed a body. She was perfect enough, and didn't need to be tested here on earth. That doesn't change the fact that this is still hard for the family. On a lighter note, if we don't see you before baby Sorensen gets here, GOOD LUCK and enjoy the experience, no matter how painful!

Oh, p.s. this is Jamie, not Ammon. I didn't realize I was logged in under his name.

I'll be thinking of you and can't wait to hear the news when he makes his debut!
