I heart Tur.botax

I don't know why when we've had MONTHS to finish the taxes we wait until the eleventh hour.

Quite literally.

We were just doing the electronic thing and then Jared found out that we had to mail in a check for our state taxes. So there I was at the post office at 1o pm last night dropping off our offering to the state of Utah. There were at least twenty other cars there so I wasn't the only one! Our taxes were crazy this year and took much more time than normal. When you finalize an adoption they let you take an adoption tax credit which greatly offsets the high costs that come with adoption. Usually it's a more straightforward process, but our experience wasn't typical and we had almost four months worth of travel expenses (flights, meals, housing, rental cars, gas etc) to figure out and itemize. My excel sheet was over five pages long when I printed out! I'm so glad they are finished.

I hate Turbo Tax-
Matt and I know your pain. We spent FOREVER doing our taxes because of the daycare. It was so confusing because we sold both of our cars, we have to depreciate all sort of crap- and go through a huge box of receipts, figure out milage, food, income... I can go on but wont! Next year we are hiring a pro to do the dirty work for us!

I did the same thing - I filed my federal taxes months ago since I was getting money back, but I kept putting off the state ones. Finally, I decided I better do it, only to find out Utah makes you mail it in! Yikes! A quick run (literally, I have no car) to the post office in the middle of the night sure is humbling.
