On Saturday we were down in good ol' Sanpete County visiting Jared's parents. Jared went down with the scouts to a cabin in Fairview Canyon the night before. Saturday morning I drove through Manti and Ephraim to pick up him up in Fairview. I went to school for a year at Snow College. I haven't been through that area so it was fun to drive through and see how much HASN'T changed... even in ten years. Before I hit Manti I got stuck in a bit of traffic. Of the four-legged kind. Now I remembered this happens occasionally on some of the roads down there but I've never experienced on the main highway through town. I swear every sheep in that town was being led down the middle of the highway, going the opposite of traffic. Why were they being sent down the middle of the road instead off on the wide shoulder? Don't ask me, but there are some awfully smart sheep herders who thought it would be great entertainment for us travelers. Kylie and I sat parked on the highway for about ten minutes for all those sheep to walk around us. Here are some pictures from the cell phone.

Coming from someone who grew up in Sanpete county and also the granddaughter of a sheep farmer, I think this is pretty funny. I didn't always enjoy trailing the sheep, especially on the highways. The sheep just aren't that bright and it takes forever. The fun part about it is getting the occasional0 "Oh my goodness! Is this really happening?" looks from people who aren't from the area. They are priceless. Getting stuck in a sheep traffic jam is pretty commonplace around there. Aren't you glad you got to experience it? :)
been there done that! it took forever for them to get out of my way when it happened. good old snow college!
I remember that!!! Do you remember- I went running up the road, and came running back after the sheep were coming? I came in Snow Hall yelling "The sheep are coming! The sheep are coming!" Hillarious!!! :)
Good ol' Sanpete County - I have been there done that too. Growing up in Sevier County and going to Sanpete County often. This brought back the days of Snow College too. This will probably never change. I am glad I don't have to get those sheep to where they need to go!
I have had to help get cows over highway 89 in Sevier County let me let you that was not a fun task.
LOL...gotta love that! I totally remember those days. one time when my hubby (boyfriend then) was leaving for a visit he ran into a herd of cows!!!
I remember that too! When I lived in good old Ephraim. It was so funny!
